Building Our Bar

Jeff Livesey 01/24/2008 09:48 PM Posted In:Home Improvement 778 Views 0 Comments

We decided one night, our basement needs a bar.   After some paper scretches and brain storming, we came up with the "basic" plan.  What I mean by basic is we had a good idea of what we wanted, but were going to kinda "wing it."  Because as always, once we have an idea, we have to have it NOW!  So the next day right after work, we head down to Home Depot and start picking wood.    I knew the basic size, so we are grabbing 2x2, 2x4, nice birch plywood, some particle board, choose some cool moldings, nice cermic tiles (didn't want the mica look), found some cool mahogany coloured stain, and all the screws, glue, etc we needed.   After getting all this stuff home, we tore up the basement like never before.   Moving couches, computer, measuring in all kinds of directions to find "the spot."  Remember, we only had the "basic idea" of what we were doing.   Oh, did I mention we had never built a bar in our lives.   Once we had it all figured out, it was bedtime...  Up early in the morning, we started the building operation.    After a few days, a few booboos, we realized we built the bar right from the floor up, but never realized, there was no way this thing will ever move.   This would be the first booboo from "winging it."   So the bar is now permanent, yet useful addition to the basement.   The only way to move this thing s to cut the bottom off.   hahahaha.   Then after it is all completed, Shanna's father came to visit to check it out and he had a bar fridge in his truck.     Ohhhh yeahh.   When we were building the bar, we quickly research the size of a bar fridge.  I guess we were looking at a space saver or something cause new fridge we got didn't fit.   After some modification, the fridge fitted.   Yay!....
